I didn’t really ask about the VIN. My main concern was if we could do paperwork or not if it was assembled but still in Denton waiting on parts. I had a lead on a new 389 that I could get next month if there was a chance that I couldn’t show buying my 579 this year.

When I ordered my new 389 back in 2013, my vin number was already assigned to the truck before I even stood up from the salesman’s desk.

Again, I wasn’t that concerned with the VIN. I asked what my options are as far as making it look like I bought the truck this year if we run into the worst case scenario. He got on the computer and confirmed that I have a firm build date and didn’t get bumped, then said “Your date is confirmed, so I’ll know the VIN soon and based on what’s been happening you should see the truck mid to late November. Worst case if it’s late December and it’s still in Denton waiting for parts we can do all the paperwork on it this year”. And I left it at that because then he told me the dates he was going to Denton and asked if I wanted to take a tour.

These trucks don't even exist and they are advertising them. Not sure if it's a typo but 2 of them say build date 2023??

I ordered a 389 in April. Schedule release date was 8/10 and still no truck.

The good thing about ordering now. Is you might get slimmed down from some of technology requiring chips.
GM has started taking some of the electronics off the ordering process.
