It’s not just Petes that are affected. It’s a PACCAR wide recall!
My KW is going into the shop again after the instrument panel malfunctioned yesterday.
Instrument panel started “Headlights are still on” and showed the fuel economy, cruise control use percentage and average time while driving-no tachometer,no speedometer,no GAUGES at all!! On top of all that the odometer was frozen and the parking brake light was illuminated-while I was driving (bobtail no less). The truck was already pulled into the shop back around November when the instrument panel malfunctioned previously(speedometer was stuck at 66 mph and none of the gauges worked-everything was frozen).

    Siinman Thanks this.

Called them and they had an attitude too. Told them the whole story and the guy in an annoying tone said so you want peterbilt to cover it under warranty then . No ####

I don’t know if it is module(s) architecture or language, but the modules on the trucks with the screen dash are different and will not communicate with older ECMs. You can knock a newer truck back to the older modules and have real gauges again, along with being able to communicate with older ECMs, but you’re talking 10k or more in modules, harnesses, software, etc. And most dealers are VIN locked on giving those parts per the newer tamper proof regs.

Dang man that truck is junk. I am glad I bought my Volvo more and more every time I see your issues. I cannot understand how this would not be covered under warranty? Might go above and see what the hell is going on with that.

    D.Tibbitt and mjd4277 Thank this.

It SHOULD be covered under warranty. FMCSA made PACCAR recall digital dash trucks for this very reason. OP will have to go higher up the chain to get a proper response.
