As far as sitting height goes there was one day I was working on the truck and the truck had no air pressure and I sat in the seat and what a weird feeling that is.

Hey if you like it that's okay.

It just seems to make sense from a physics point of view if you sit higher that you can actually see more down low and out of the windshield because your line of vision is higher pointing downward.

Sitting low your line of Vision is more in line with the hood so it would certainly seem as though you would see less.

What you can't see is the stuff 6 foot in front of you.
At 70 mph it doesn't matter if you can't look into your own headlights going down the road. What matters is what is well beyond your hood, and that dipstick trying to ride right next to your right steer, they're why train horns are a thing.
What's really nice is when you can actually put the proper amount of air in the seat and not be sitting 16 inches up off the floor.

I had Bostrom’s mounted on the floor of my FLD. Couldn’t really see over the center of the dash, but I was comfortable.

I've never seen the point to a long hood TBH. Short hood looks more porportionate.

You can barely see over that giant easy reach thing Freightliner stuck in those dashes with a regular seat.

Long FLD and pete781693 Thank this.

Freightliner went a lot of years without making many changes to their dash. It was the same basic shape from the FLC’s up until the end of the FLD cab.

I've seen as few comments about not being able to see with the seat low and a long hood. What I find interesting about those types of comments is that I see more short, sloped hooded trucks with smashed bumpers and fairings than a classic with a bent bumper.

I drove a Ford F650 for about a minute once. Couldn't see the hood, promptly hit a dirt bank with the bumper in a tight driveway. I imagine I'd do something similar in an aero truck that I couldn't see the hood.
