Let me guess, the fuel cap comes off to reveal an anti siphon insert. If you try to leave the nozzle in that insert there's nothing but a smooth wall and the nozzle slips out easily, especially with the force of diesel coming out?

The easiest solution is to have a bungie ready and available to keep the nozzle in place, but then the nozzle frequently shuts off because diesel can't flow through the anti siphon insert quick enough to prevent shutting off (at least in my experience driving trucks with the inserts). The only reliable option is to set fuel flow on the driver's side tank to low, then fill the passenger side tank by hand while holding the nozzle above the siphon screen to get full flow. After finishing the passenger side go back and top off the driver's side without the bungie. At least you got some fuel in the driver's side before having to hold the nozzle.

Best option is to remove those inserts.

You can tell them where to put the def tank. The factory only does what is on the spec sheet.

The best anti theft fuel situation is big strong locking caps.

If they really wanted that fuel they can get to it very easily enough leave you holding the bag when the authorities find out about the 200 gallon fuel spill under your rig.

Anything else that interferes with your ability to fuel is a liability. Some of those pumps are truly massive flows. Fill a 165 gallon tank in a hurry on each side at the same time. In my time once you removed the caps there is nothing but fill. Shove em in there, set the locking notch and wait. They click off when full.

You probably do remember to check that handle to make sure that it is not already locked open and cause you to splash everywhere.

Sounds like you need a better salesman. There aren’t any “rules” about tank placement, it’s what the salesman punches into the keyboard. A friend of mine has a 36” flattop coming with dual 120’s under the bunk. The def tank is getting mounted about halfway between the fuel tank and the drives so he has enough wiring and def line to move it ahead and hide it in the driver step.

Buy 2 bungee cords, after the first film you will no where and how to place them. THEN keep them on the cat walk, so there always available. The part about the nozzle shutting itself off, you will figure out. You most likely have to pull the nozzle out of the tank a little, or squeeze it half way.

Well actually you can get those rubber stopper they use in plumbing, you know the ones with toggles and you just put a little chain on the toggle and to the cap, easily to deal with.
