does anyone how the size of the AGM battery that the SmartAir system uses, believe I need to replace the batteries as system only works for 10 minutes and completely drains the Aux batteries to 0. by looks of batteries probably original from factory. it's a 2017 pete 579..

Not trying to talk you out of AGM, but have you considered installed traditional deep cycle marine batts?

    Those AGMs are friggin expensive.

I can get you the factory battery capacity in the morning.

I just figured you had to use AGM for that system, if not yeah I can do Marine Batteries or any other type of battery that will work, would also like to run my inverter off them.

We sure do replace alot of them. I often wondered how a traditional lead acid deep cycle would last in comparison. I dont think the system would know the difference as long as the voltage is the same.

Your typical cranking batts are a no go.

I will still get you the specs. I know the brand is Odyssey

I had a set of AGM’s in a new ‘12 Western Star and they lasted 13 months. Never again.

that's strange most of the shops I have been to have always said these AGM's that peterbilt uses are really good but then if these are original there from a 17 pete 579 so 4-5 years old now.

    Odyssey xtreme# 31-PC2150 is factory

Northstar # NSB-AGM31 is another popular option.

looked those up and dam your right those are crazy prices, I called my peterbilt shop and they have 20 that have been on order for over a month and still haven't got them in short supply but they did have so Marine AGM style with same specs as factory that have both side and top posts on them and they have been using them with no issues. and priced 303.99 so going to go with them.

    Goodysnap Thanks this.

well the new batteries they got me were Blue Optimum brand marine dual purpose AGM 's and yeah the ones I took out were the Odyssey xtreme# 31-PC2150, the specs aren't exactly the same 900CCA compared to 1125 and reserve capacity on the new ones are 155 compared to 205. but should still be enough power to run it, atleast the pete store said they would be good... and new ones are 75amp hours compared to 100
