Every LaFarge mixer I've ever driven had an 8LL, so I'll agree that's probably what it is too. Usually there's a decal on the dash or on the shifter showing you what yer shifting!

From ChatGPT...yep this sounds like the one
An 8LL transmission is a type of manual transmission commonly used in heavy-duty trucks. It is also known as an "eight-speed low-low" transmission, as it has eight forward gears and two reverse gears. The first four gears are "low" gears, which provide the truck with more power and torque for hauling heavy loads or climbing steep grades. The next four gears are "high" gears, which provide a higher top speed and better fuel efficiency when driving on level terrain. The two reverse gears provide additional maneuverability for backing up or navigating tight spaces. The "LL" designation in the name indicates that the transmission has a compound low range, which provides even more torque and power for extreme hauling or towing situations. Overall, the 8LL transmission is a popular choice for commercial truck drivers who need a versatile and powerful transmission for their work. -
I always felt like they should've called the 18 speed a 16LL to better match the way the gear shift labels look.
