Ok class. Lets try this again. Say you're driving, for, 2.5 hours. You did a pre-trip at the start of your day. Get to the Pilot, you have to fuel. Billy Bigrigger is sitting at the pump, inside and getting 24 double cheeseburgers for lunch. You put it in to Off Duty. You're in Off Duty until Mr Heart Attack Waiting To Happen waddles out with his 4 McDonald's bags full of grease filled burgers. He gets into his truck, and eventually (after downing 3 of the said burgers and some Diet Coke, has to watch his blood sugar you know) drives off. You pull up to the fuel island, put yourself in On Duty, fuel in the comments, and fuel your truck. Fueling takes 9 minutes. Get in the truck, switch to Off Duty, go inside, pee, get your drink, etc, get on down the road. The E-Log automatically puts you into Driving after a mile or so. So you did an 8 minute Pretrip, a 9 minute fuel and you've been driving for 2 and a half hours. You took a little more than 2.75 hours off your On Duty time, and about 15 minutes of Off Duty. You still have plenty of time to finish your 11 hours driving.

I understand that you are yet another driver who is saying the reason you don't want elogs to be mandatory is because its easier to break the law with paper logs. I understand that you're saying this on a public forum on the internet which means anyone can see it and it will never go away. And finally I understand that whether you intended to or not, your comments have just done more to hurt your cause than to help it.

It never ceases to amaze me how often truckers can be their own worst enemy.

super trucker because he gets the job done without the Nanny State dictating when he is tired and when he is rested?

i guess there are more super truckers on the road than "non" super truckers

i am simply amazed at the amount of drivers on this forum that love being told what to do, how to do it, and when to do it, by a computer

i guess you guys cant wait until the government tells you to bend over a bit more

no, i dont think it has to do with breaking the law, as much as it has to be with submitting to laws that make no sense

what will you do when they say you can only drive 8hrs a day? you will call those who drive 11hrs outlaws? and brag about how you are making more money and better rested because you drive only 8hrs a day

simply amazing the logic drivers use, and then we wonder why the government keeps adding more and more restrictions

because we accept more and more restrictions

Billy Bigrigger doesn't have to be an owner operator....... I have given that name to the, uh, bigger drivers out here. There are "drivers" who certainly meet the criteria.
