I've been driving 11 and been in this industry my entire life-36 years. I can do things with a truck that would make your head spin. I've already done my first safe million on the way to my second. There's your "steering wheel holder". I don't need an E-Log. I have accepted the E-Log and excelled. If you're a good driver, they won't hurt you or the money you make. If you are sub par, well, then you've got problems. Being compliant isn't a bad thing. And it certainly wouldn't be a bad thing for this industry. We can talk all the "nanny state" BS we want, but he fact remains: If we have people constantly willing to skirt the HOS rules, the industry will never get better. Shippers & receivers will continue to dick with your time because they can, and they know you'll get the load there regardless of HOS. Me? You hold me up, and I can't make it on time, its on you. It's on the shipper or receiver. They decide to keep me in a dock because they weren't prepared to load me in a timely fashion, they get charged. A compliant industry is a better industry. There's less to take advantage when the companies, shippers, receivers, planners, dispatchers and drivers are made to follow the rules.

If you learn how to properly trip plan and manage your time, that scenario will never happen. I've been on these things since May of last year. Never happened once.

There is absolutly no way ANY driver running E-logs makes more money than a paper guy. No way. If you are one who says you are making more now then when you ran paper that tells everybody that you could not be left to do your job in the first place. Now that ur on the "nanny state" you are being forced to do the job you were hired for and so now your paychecks are bigger. I hope I just spelled out here what your minds can't seem to grasp.

You could make the same argument for fuel surcharge. My settlements speak for themselves. The majority of our customers have adapted to this system and it works well. The ones who haven't are slowly getting the hang of it. They don't want to pay, so they will load & unload our trucks in the window provided to them.

Nope. I used to run like there was no tomorrow. Leave Perry, GA for LA,CA. Head to Oxnard,CA for a load of strawberries up to Rochester, NY. That was one week. Load in Georgetown, DE for Wilder, ID. By the way, that loaded Friday afternoon for a Monday morning delivery. Then off to Rupert, ID for Birmingham, AL. That was Sunday to Friday. Trust me. I ran like a raped ape. I don't have to do that anymore. I rest better and I'm totally legal. DOT doesn't even look my way anymore. I make more money because I run smarter. Not harder.
