Yep....that's why I still have the good ole "Tried and True" 3-ring binder and paper logs.....They may be "old fashioned".....They might not be what Joan Claybrook wants.....But I'll tell you what....They don't break down.....And they're cheap as Hell.....I just run 10 copies a week of from Excel......

If you run out of time at a shipper just document the delay and drive to a safe place to park. The elog doesn't stop you from driving the truck.
-
It does at some companies.
They even get nasty when you move in a truckstop.volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
Now maybe....But Joan Claybrook wants those EOBR's tied into the ECM to shutdown your rig after your 11/14 is up......volvodriver01 Thanks this.
-
That could be the next step.volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
The question is why should a driver be "mandated" to recieve CSA points from a logbook violation that he tried his arse off to avoid but he was not in control of? If drivers are forced to run E-logs then shouldn't they be in control of how fast they get loaded or unloaded? Shouldn't there be some sort of punishment for Dispatchers that waste time looking for loads instead of having every load already preplanned? Whats the punishment for the loading docks that take their sweet time since they are paid hourly? What about the DOT officer that takes his or her sweet time doing an inspection? If we the drivers get punished because we are forced to run E-logs then everyone else involved in the trucking industry has to be held to higher standards and be punished for their actions.Working Class Patriot and gokiddogo Thank this.

Oh...It's in the works....And now that Obama isn't leaving for at least another 4 years....LaHood is staying too.....EOBR's tied into the ECM to shut you down.....Gives Lahood a "Woody".....

If it shuts the truck off at the expiration of your 11/14 it would remove the ability for drivers to operate during emergencies. Trucks would be coming to a standstill in the middle of the interstate causing all kinds of issues. A computer glitch could cripple the infrastructure of the entire country. Now I'm going to go watch Live Free or Die Hard. Have a nice night.
-
That will never happen.
She may think she wants that but the first time anyone's truck stops running because their time ran out and it causes a death or injury accident. It will be a HUGE lawsuit the government would never be able to pay. -
You think Claybrook or LaHood care?....Hell...Claybrook is also pushing for the 8 hour total duty day and having trucking just run Monday-Friday too......
These morons don't realize that unless trucking is a 7/24/365 deal....The nation STOPS!!!!!!!!
volvodriver01 and Roadmedic Thank this.
