A valid point. But even if you had every single driver on your side, it still wouldn't be enough IMO. Drivers don't have much lobby power. Even if you had a petition that well written and well reasoned (the petition in the link is neither), and even if every driver in the country signed it, I doubt it would have much impact in terms of preventing the DOT from pursuing their agenda.

And for the record, I'm as neutral as can be on the issue. I've yet to use them and I certainly don't love them. But I accept reality which that they're coming whether any of us likes it or not.

i dont believe "they are coming" as much as i believe people are submitting to "them coming"

and to be honest, if drivers would stand up, regardless of the laws, that would change things

take the CSA, the ELOG, the EOBR and whatever other alphabet soup they can come up with and just refuse to submit, thats what works

dump the tea in the harbor

    You will be surprised then.

In 2005, they began talking about ways they could monitor trucks. This is just the beginning.

    road, i agree

but until we get drivers to think and see the streamroller coming, you are fighting an uphill battle, mainly against our fellow drivers before we even can think of dealing with federal mandates

as one driver said, as long as he is making $700 week, he doesnt care what regulations they put in

there is a reason why welfare is there, its not to take care of poor folks, but to keep the working poor in fear

Comments about the welfare are interesting.

In reality, think back to the ways of the life in Britain. There was a ruling class and then the servants.

Now, look at what we have. Looks to be heading that way again.

They have their advantages, but most of those advantages are for the company (so they can push us) and the DOT (so they know we're logging correctly). The benefits for us? Well, they're not going to pay us hourly, so I see none.

    I prefer paper.
