This reminded me of the old Mash episode with Radar...

    "Animals are people to!"

Back to the never ending argument...pet..or no pet.

This is BY FAR the best response. And I'm sure the op would hire any of the scumbags we all have to put up with on a daily basis while out on the road.
My dog is awesome, a great alarm system, and awesome company. Love having her with me. ALWAYS clean up after her, more than I can say for some drivers that don't clean up after themselves. 20160112_152018.jpg

Thank you for saying what I was thinking. Otr is so much more than just another job and if this wannabe employer doesn't get that what an awful "job" it would be to drive for him.

    And people today suck.[/QUOTE]

Maybe a little furry companion on the road might fix that rosy disposition of yours?

I am puzzled by the OP's strong reaction to someone passing on the opportunity to work for him. It wasn't personal. The driver just happened to have his priorities. And that's that.

For you guys who don't hire drivers, and don't deal with the bs, you don't get how frustrating and time consuming to deal with these drivers can be, especially those who demand things that are not normal.

Pets are fine to have, but there is a time and place for them, sometimes the choice of pets takes away from the work that they are supposed to do, it is just like kids in the truck, there is an added distraction to the driver who is there to be safe, can't be safe with a kid screaming about not being able to do something he/she wants.
