PG&E is getting off light. Very light.
This isn't PG&E's first time for being held criminally negligent and at fault for fatalities. Their legal people are tuned up for this and they know exactly how far they can push the victims.
They'll make the reimbursement program into a lengthy ordeal with a complicated approval process and a ton of paperwork for the applicants.
Many survivors of the Camp fire were elderly and on limited incomes. PG&E hopes that they'll die before they have to be paid anything. The longer PG&E makes them wait the less they'll pay.
PG&E will do everything they can to delay the entire payments and penalties despite the suffering that their behavior caused and continues to cause.
Shameful behavior. -
At least the court is making them establish a trust fund for the victims.

Now every time the wind gets above 35 mph they'll turn the power off. Make sure you keep your fuel topped off before heading through California.
InTooDeep, D.Tibbitt and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
California seems to be very good at shifting blame to others.
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
