"steel toes" aren't mandatory thru pgt. most steel mills we go to require steel toes, long shirts, long pants, hard hat and safety glasses. pgt doesn't say nothing about what we wear (except at the mills). know a trainer that wears tank tops. alot of us drivers wear shorts and sneakers/hikers. about the only time something would be said is if you are wearing a tee shirt that was vulgar or might be construed as offensive.

a few require the arm guards (nucor) and those places do supply them for you. none of the mills have actually checked that you are wearing steel toes. so long as you aren't wearing flip flops they don't pay to close attention.

got a message about one mill now requiring metatarsal guards. won't be going to that mill any time soon lol

don't know what the deal was with her husband having to find his own ride. pgt either sends you on the "dog" (if is close by) or they fly you to the truck. or they will "discover" one in the monaca yard.

They had already bought me a ticket to alabama to get my truck. they should have asked first. "good lord" didn't give this old dog wings.. wasn't flying no where and didn't. happy they managed to use ticket for someone else though

Dunno about his own ride is strange. Yeah i was told steel toes and a hard hat when i went for orientation. Get there and they give you one. As for the steel toes, i took them with me, first trip home they went in a corner. Hate the durn things. Have never yet been asked at a mill to prove im wearing any. Long sleecves definately, a cple want arm guards over that. Talk about extra hot sheesh

Ok, stupid question: on their website for the application it asks "what position are you applying for", as a recent graduate and no experience would I choose company driver or student? I want to make sure "student" doesn't mean I'm looking to be a student/get my CDL, since I already have my Class A.
