Yup.The rim was still there together with scraps of that tire.
Good thing I did walk around because I usually had rather non orthodox attitude towards pre trip. You know "If she started I am good" kinda thing but it has changed now.
Phantom Pre-Trip inspections.

You would think with all the high-tech Gizmo they put on trucks these days that they could put on some sort of an idiot light saying you got a flat tire.
-
They should! Now that I think of it there was a moment when the truck felt kinda "wobbly" but I assumed it was the road.Drove at night so couldn't see scraps flying from under trailer.

Found a freakin' 4 week old kitten up on my trailer tandems one morning. Would have killed it if I'd rolled out without finding it up there, hidden on the inside tire. Now, she's 2 years old and it's great, but I do an "extra paranoid check for any critters up under the rig" pretrip now days. Other than that, I've had a few license plate lights stolen over night.
Lepton1, x1Heavy, Dye Guardian and 2 others Thank this. -
They do.

I have that same Qualcomm in my truck but it does not have a tire pressure warning system operative.

alot of newer trailers have the white LED light on the nose that will shine into your mirror if the auto-inflation system is detecting serious air loss. I just had that happen on Thursday morning. Had a tire totally knocked off it's bead when I went to hook onto it.
Midnightrider909 Thanks this. -
The rules are that you are required to do 1 inspection per day. You are not required to do a pretrip or a post trip. Just 1 inspection. That being said, I spread the inspection out. I always look at my truck when I am walking up to it. If I have been out of sight of the truck for any length of time, I will do a walk around. I check the hubs for oil during the walk around as I have had the seals leak. I open the hood when I am fueling to check the oil. Every drop and hook requires a walk around. The trailer I am pulling right now has a hole in it. That gets photographed and called in. I am not paying for someone else's damage.
The worst thing I have ever found was a axle free floating off the rail. That was a Penske Trailer that I was going to rent. Of course the worst thing is to pull out of the truck stop without having purchased your coke. -
