You know... it wont be the popular view.. but I am just gonna say it....

It is rediculouse for everyone to keep calling training wage sale labor wage... first, you are learning and getting experience in a trade that you have no experience in... my nephew who is in college and did an intern this summer.. did not get paid anything for the 50 hours a week of internship...

Now, hou are gripping about only making $350 a week... but, since you choose to go through company sponsored CDL school and training chances are you were not working before going to CDL school.. or not making much at whatever job you had... otherwise like me and others you would of paid for your own school or financed it...

So, getting paid to learn a skill is not that bad a deal... especially since you didnt have to foot the bill for the schooling..

My best advice would be stick it out a year or when your agreement you signed runs out. Learn as much as you can, don't be discouraged after you get your year in accident/ticket free, the opportunities are endless, and depending on how hard you want to work/earn you can make 50-100k a year. Learn to pack food from home, budget, shop for deals, receive help from family if this is an option, don't pay rent if you can/put your stuff in a friends basement or garage(no need to pay for a place to come home to just 2 days a month). Hopefully this will build your character welcome to trucking and good luck.

the 8-10 hours of driving for that pay wage for training is normal. i had to do it with central. you might have to do it if you dont find a local job. or a faster training company.

ha! just wait until you do start driving and get hung out with some load that the consignee won't take for a couple of days and whatever bottom feeder company that you drive for pays you $50 layover because they worked it out in advance for you by not paying you the first 24 hours.

yeah that happened to me ONE time years and years ago(wasn't even a bottom feeder actually) and i was just placed in a truck and sent on my way for my training so i am thinking on if i was gouged or not after reading your post OP.Lesson learned i reckon as I always call the shipper or consignee but then i do not have a dispatcher type hooking me up over some quallcom.

truck driving.it is not all that you heard it was-

do hang in there OP. things will be exactly what you make them after you get that mythical CDL.

I hear ya but look at it this way.....england sold me on 500-600 week for starters....not 300....second- this isn't really even meeting my financial obligations with a family of 5.....stuck in a truck 23 hours a day, driving nonstop for 30 days at 300-350 a week???? Be grateful for the training??? It's no wonder this school has a 10% retention rate.

I know about a year ago Conway in Fontucky was training new drivers to run local and they were grossing about $750-$800 a week. Talked with one Conway local driver and he said they have a training program and everything to get new drivers on the job experience plus a job after completing their training program.

If you get stuck with England apply to get into the Walmart local fleet out of their new Colton terminal. One of my former students is now a DM in that fleet so after your phase 2 completion hit me up and I will get you some phone numbers to call as long as you have no accidents or incidents during training.

If I were you I'd leave right now, and start somewhere better, this time do research. It's only going to get worse at CRE
