Don't be stupid, finish the training. Going somewhere else before that means doing another 3 to 8 weeks of traing for around 400 a week. Find another job BEFORE you quit, and do some research first this time.

Yeah.. your best bet is to stick it out... get your training done, get some experience and get the schooling they provided you paid off... in the mean dont let your thinking get stinking... just remind yourself it isnt forever it is just till the school is paid for and you will have training and experience under belt...

Too many new drivers just bail... then they wonder why they arent getting nowhere...

When you have no experience they just need a three year history.. but once you got your CDL and a month of traini g they want a 10 history... that has gotta suck for the job hoppers...

Yes the pay is very hard to live on to support a family, I know a few who have came in this industry similar situation to yours and its a gamble(lose a house or wife or both), I would have talked it over in depth with your family before getting into trucking because it is a huge strain on relationships. Most important thing for you right now is get your seat time, training, good driving habits, and keep a clean record. Also Cr England might try to ruin your record and collect on the training they provided. Unless you can get a sure fire opportunity(ex. Texas/ND black gold rush) where you can make 1200+/week I don't know if leaving your current company so soon is worth it, might ruin the start of your career before it really begins.

He did do research. That's why he's here now. He knew they were garbage before he signed up.

Because they were the first to offer a job. So, he went through school, got his license and now he can bail...he just needs help to figure out his next move. So to get a sympathetic ear, he talks about the kids and whatnot. He knew full well that every other company he looked into pays $300-350 a week. They all do for training. He knew that.

You can't blame him for playing the I have a 'kids under four' sympathy card. Otherwise you guys would have been nasty.

I been working for them for 5 months now phase 1 did suck but I always had the option to leave because I went to a cdl school in virginia and paid to get trained and got my cdl. Knowing u have that option makes it easier to cope but push thru its worth it only because u get the experience and being by yourself is cool and u learn more when u have no one to lean on. Just push thru and I hope u succeed. Most of the students I knew went home first to get there cdl before phase 1 or directly after so u should put your home time in now I went home to 2 weeks after my phase 1

I agree with this. These "we will train you and pay for your CDL" companies are geared for people who have nothing on the ball, no savings, cannot afford to pay for the training themselves, and are seriously stressed to feed themselves while training. If that's the way you want to go, then how can you expect top make fat stacks until you have that year under your belt. There are some companies that give you a better deal than CRE. I researched CRE and spoke to a recruiter, they were hot to have me. But additional research showed that if I wanted to go the "free training" route, Schneider was a lot better. The pay is double that, and I try to hold up my end of the bargain by not complaining about getting a crappy load, by being on time, and by being safe. They took a guy who knew nothing about trucks, paid me during training, allowed me to get my CDL, and put me in a truck and turned me loose. I have nothing to complain about. Once I have my year (probably 14 months), I will explore my options.

If that's the case he has no right to complain. I try and I try to understand why newbs resign to hiring on with scum companies. Just doesn't make sense. So many better opportunities out there.
