Phoenix Swift School

As long as you stay positive and do things correctly everything will be fine. I am a flight instructor so i am used to the logbook and policies of companies. As long as your a team player and understand that there is always something to learn you will be fine. And off topic replying to Roman, why don't you get out and help out that new swift driver by spotting him so he can get by safely. If you do that i bet he/she will be a little more helpful next time. There is videos of people recording other drivers having a hard time backing a trailer. Why would you not get out and help. I can bet there was a time in their careers that they wished they had that kind of help. Of course i cant sit here and say swift is the best academy as i have not attended others. I can think of a lot of things i would do differently if i ran the training program. But in reality swift is one of the largest trucking companies out there. Of course some slip through the cracks in any industry but they tend to weed themselves out after a while. Unfortunately due to volume many people do it with swift written on the side of their trailer. 16500 drivers at the company no way everyone can be perfect. But for those of us who exert the right amount of effort opportunity is there.

 

Going the company route for now. Looking at 1 year for sure, but might go two if things go good. I know there will be times, but all in all, it should be alright.

Today we did off-set backing!! And did you know you CAN stick a 73 foot rig into a 100 foot hole?

It's moving right along!! Having FUN.

 

That was my plan as well. One year for sure and more if it works out. Glad you like it but you did backing today, Saturday? My schedule shows weekends off.

I don't care about Saturdays since I have no social life anyway just want to make sure I don't have bad info.

 

I don't know who told you that, but be ready for a ride. You are in school for 7 days a week, and they just went to winter hours. 6am til 4pm. You will be in class for two days, then on the range Wednesday thru Saturday. Back to class Sunday and Monday. Then back to the range all week. You then will get Sunday OFF.

Get GOOD sleep, dress light, and use suntan loation on the range. Try to put it on at home before you get to the range. It works better that way.
In class, Tony is alright, a bit dry, and Mike is GREAT, real funny and great stories.

13 days in a row one day off then 5 days in a row is how the program goes. Only the second saturday off. Ohh and its summer hours now school starts at 6 and goes till 4

####, I don't even have the hours right! I was about to be there really early. I saw the M-F in the handbook I got off their portal online, obviously old information. As for the days I actually like that better. Are you commuting geckolyn? I'm literally 4 miles too close to be put in the hotel I found out. Ah well, 46 miles across Phoenix. I'm off.

 

First day done, lost a couple people and there was only about 15 anyway. Liked it. Apparently there are two different orientations at the end, flatbed and non. Leaning towards doing flatbed since if you want to do it later you need to go through another orientation.

 

Yeah Tex I'm in my third week on the road with Jim. He seems so far to be a great instructor.

 

Lost a couple people? Did anyone try to find them?!?!? heheh.. j/k.. Seriously though, were they kicked out or didn't like it and quit? If they were kicked out, do you know what for?
