Sore as hell today!Just need to toughen it up as all and yeah I believe you that it gets more so. Speaking of I thought I saw you the other day, DC backpack right? Next time I'll say hey, I think I'm the only one wearing aviators in my group. All but one of us passed the straight line backing eval today, couple more had to do it twice but they got it. One girl was sent home for failing the permit test for a second time.

It's good to read y'alls post's. I am glad your doing good. Keep it up, and stay cool. Most of all? PAY ATTENTION to your instructors. If you see my truck (look in my pics), feel free to stop by and say hi. Coffee or soda will be on me. See ya out here.
AZS Thanks this. -
Hey AZS im the one with the dc backpack and black hat. And as for the thigh pain wait till the third monday when you go to the shifting pad. Thats when it really got me. Then driving around town they want you to hold the clutch in and be in first or second gear at a stoplight. Agony! And Texas i got your pm and yes you are correct that is the fellow and yes he is quite the instructor. Used to work for mvd as a tester. I did enjoy being on his truck all week long. Its too bad he cant test me. I did a pre-test thing today where he fake graded me and i missed 4 points. He was like "well you didnt exactly give me much to talk about". Two points for a couple harsh stops a point for a bad shift and a point for not reading height on an overpass. Ill take it! lets see if i can repeat that tomorrow when it counts. Potentially my last day then back to beloved california!

I'm so glad that Jim is back. He is an awesome instructor.

Yep, feel the burn. It gets worse. All in all it's not bad. Will be doing skills all day tomorrow (Saturday), then will ENJOY a day off. Can't wait. I talked to some of you today, but don't know who you are. Will try to remember to bring it up tomorrow at the picnic tables.
Yes, Jim is back and better then ever. Cool guy and helps alot. If you can get on his truck, do it.
Other good inspectors: Howard, Jerry, Jose, Dave, Bob. Do what they ask, and ASK LOTS of QUESTIONS. They are there to help you. They really want you to pass, but you have to want it. Don't forget to have fun.Last edited: Oct 15, 2010

Hopefully this doesn't get posted twice...
First, great thread! Great info!
I've been thinking about going to the Phoenix school and have a few questions:
1) What "permit" is required? The checklist on the school site just says to bring your drivers license and social security card.
2) Why does Tilskie need to "switch back to a CA license"? Isn't the CDL you get through Swift good in all 50 (or at least 48) states?
3) What does the "recruiter" do for you? The way the website reads it sounds like you just show up on Monday... can't be that easy.
Thanks,
joe
