When someone asks what to do on a pretrip to shows you are just a steering wheel holder. And people respond and tell them everything to do. It's just stupid

Don't sweat it. They'll just go over your application with you and they'll explain what the job is then they'll formally offer the job to you. You basically have the job when they make this call - as long as you pass the next step, onboarding.
