I'm heading to Seattle tomorrow and would like some advice on the best route. My GPS is saying to head to Vegas, then north from there on US93 eventually getting to i84 then i82 etc. As much as I hate Cali it seems more sensible to just take I5 all the way. I've only been up to WA once so I'd appreciate some advice.
Phx to Seattle?

That's a good route assuming the weather is good. The higher elevations near Ely, NV, between LaGrande and Pendleton, OR, and Snoqualmie Pass are the places you might hit bad weather and road conditions. All things being equal, it's faster and shorter than I-5. I-5 has lower speed limits and more mountains and traffic.

I just looked at the weather....it looks like Weed, CA is getting snow most of the week while 93/84/82/90 is looking good. Ely is supposed to get down to -2, though. Brrrr. Make sure you have some anti-gel. That's the way I would go. Plus, the scenery in Central Nevada is awesome in winter. It's one of my favorite places to drive through.

It is stunnigly beautiful too. But I would beg my company not to send me to Seattle through I-90. The place is steep. I would rather stay in flat eastcoast.
My Jeep got stuck on those mountains.

Provo I-15 was a real mess this morning with accidents everywhere..just watch the weather.ducnut Thanks this. -
If the weather is cooperating. My preferred route would be 95 toward Reno. Then cut up through Alturas, CA to get to 97. Head down to I5 on Hwy 58
Careful of the roads near Susanville some have length restrictions.
