i heard that they have some small non union outfit on the side, that also starts with a "P", but that the p i and i drivers just end up using those trucks too, since i heard that their trucks are sort of beat down.

yungtrucker, what other options do you have around detroit? 2 years ago i was living around the flint area, and there wasn't much around there besides hauling auto parts.

i think ficel runs a yard in detroit, if you have a fast card, they were running ads in the paper in buffalo and detroit last week, i saw the detroit ad online and the buffalon one in my paper. they pay decent if you want to haul steel, but they run a lot of b trains, so you might need your doubles endorsement.

if you want to haul sheetrock and other building materials, you might try checking out tandem transport, they are out of the gary indiana area i believe. they pay .40 cpm and home weekends, and their drivers ive worked next to seem to be pretty happy with the company. on their website it says they have a dedicated michigan fleet as well.

No I never worked for pi&i. I did drive for Falcon for 2 months, but had a bad experience. I posted about it in a Falcon thread if you want to look for it.

My point exactly. You've got to search all the information you can.

I just checked out Modular's website and it says they pay per diem which is the biggest SCAM and rip-off in the trucking ind. Stay away from them and give PI&I a shot. Just my 2 cents.

per diem is not something companies "offer". its there for a tax write off for you, no matter what. but when you get some of your pay as "per diem" pay, it means more work come tax time, instead of just a simple :days out X per diem rate(52$per day prior to sept 09, 58 after).

does modular run red freightliners? i was on the ohio pike on thursday and saw a truck going west that i thought had modular on the door.

either way, good for you, good luck with p i and i, they definetly dont look slow right now.
