I'm not a 100% sure. Didn't the Walmart driver who hit Tracey Morgan. Drive like 6 hours in his personal vehicle to work, before the accident?

 

Ya but it's not really the same. I figure you are talking about terminal to terminal or terminal to swap point with another driver. I see ads all over for that kind of thing, and ya is pretty darn cheap. Last ad i saw for R&L said 1.21 plus fsc (don't hold me to that number i just remember thinking holy smokes that's cheap).

I felt more rested with paper logs. I could sleep when I was tired not when some box tells me when I am tired.

 

Don't let the box tell you when to sleep. It never makes me run tired.

 

But yet no one has the political will to do absolutely one thing about distracted driving due to texting and Facebook or whatever. I can make a argument it's a much bigger problem than drunk driving. For every old story about what it was like before hos I can show you disasters today where the roads are way more dangerous today and it has nothing to do with trucks or HOS. Instead of addressing problems that can easily be solved we bicker over silly regulations that in the end will make no difference. It's easier to make vehicles autonomous than it is to take the phones away. Make no mistake, the insurance companies, and lobbyist will see to it.

 

The HOS are a necessity however I think if they would allow a driver to stop for say 3 to 5 hrs and extend our 14 then we could stop and nap during rush hour which would reduce traffic and also allow us not to be penalized by doing the right thing when we know we're tired.

I will say I stop when I want to. Need to or have too. Regardless of my 14 but it would be nice to have flexibility especially since elogs will soon be in all trucks.

 

It has always been my hope that once the mandate is implemented we can sit down with legislatures and try to get some flexibility back into hos. And i think we will have or worse enemy on our side when that day comes. The ata.
