	sounds about right
I'm no tax expert or give tax advice that's for sure I've heard of ICs setting aside anywhere between 15-40%
Remember if you earn $3000 one week but take a week off those flease payments don't stop so you remove that from your income.
Another thing while yes you pay a little more overall as an IC you also are earning more which means you can make better use of that whole per diem thing.
ATBS told me they have drivers getting back $10-15K per year in taxes just from per diem.
One of the benefits of being a slave to a truck as an OTR driver vs being a local driver.
$60k a year as a local driver doesn't come close to $60k a year as an OTR driver when it's all said and done.Moneyleg Thanks this. -

You're correct a Local drivers home nightly so no per diem however they do have a regular schedule and a LIFE. Lol

tennman: local drivers have a life to enjoy. Is that really true. Work 14hrs, have 1hr commute, leave 9 hrs for sleep and enjoyment. To me it seems that the balance is regional, home weekly for 36 to 48 hrs
Dinomite Thanks this. -

wide range of local or what is deemed local work. I had a dedicated account gig that I worked about 45-50 hours a week on. Grossed 50K. Unfortunately it came up for rebid and SNI was underbid this round.dieselfuelonly Thanks this.

Every job is different but once you've only got 34 hrs at home to reset or you get the load planner that misses your home time and you're stuck in the truck to do a 34 you'll agree being home nightly or daily is WAY better than any regional or Orr job you can find.
I home weekly on choice and I love it however if I could do what I do and be home daily I would.Blackhawk driver and freightwipper Thank this. -

Depends what you mean by a life..
If someone has a family and kids at home then yes that would be a life.
I don't have any of that, when I go home it's to do bills and lay around. No big deal for me.
OTR could be good for someone that wants to escape the wife also lol.
All depends on the person and situation, everybody is different.centralmi, T_TRUCKER., 91B20H8 and 2 others Thank this. -

I love to drive(most days) I love the things I get to see in the course of our work. being chained in a rolling prison cell(smaller than that actually) is one part i could do without.

A lot of LOCAL DRIVERS do not have that much of a GREAT life as so many post about them having , long hours , rush hour traffic , traffic congestion , the commute to / from work to home can be quite a distance for some not exactly a 9 to 5 job
drvrtech77 and Dinomite Thank this.
