Better planning on the load planners part I guess.
As the driver you can either run it or not. If not then let your dispatch know you can't make it for the next morning and let them know what you can do.

If you let a company throw loads at you that require you to flip flop your hours all the time well that's what they'll do. This is the biggest contributor to fatigued driving by the way.
You'll hear many drivers say that it's just the way it it's in trucking , actually it only exsists
Because drivers
( 1 ) put up with it
( 2 ) they're drunk on company/ industry koolaid.
My body won't put up with it,
I know exactly what hours I'm safe behind the wheel. My checks have not ever suffered be cause I refuse to run when it's not safe for me to do so and because I refuse to I force dispatchers and or planners to actually do their job.
Having said that , doing proper research will help you not wind up at company that the majority of their freight runs during hours that don't work for you
Me I'm nocturnal so being on a dayshift is problematic.
I can do it but I have to be completely ridgid with my sleep times and even then I'm not at my best. I can't be flexible at all running days and you do have to be flexible to degree in this business.
My preferred hours are from approximately
1300 to 0200 / 0500. My body really hates getting up before noon.QuietStorm, ExOTR, dunchues and 2 others Thank this. -
There is a brochure in the lobby with an exhaustive list of services we can provide and bios of our top talent.
Did I mention we also offer Sarcasm at discounted rates?
The real answer to the question is if you really want to work daylight hours most of the time get a dedicated run or local job that has those hours. They are out there. It's a trade-off. As you get to know the industry you will identify what it is that you can put up with and what you can't. From there you make your adjustments.homeskillet, Barn Door Bill, tony97905 and 5 others Thank this. -
