There is another Sheetz "Truck Stop", or at least one with fuel islands. It's somewhere near State College, PA on one of the US highways. I can't remember which one though. All I can remember is seeing it one night on the north side of the highway.

I stood behind some four wheelers who were asking another touring group of four wheelers what was going on with that Flying J?
The second one said that they were sold to Pilot and the two truck stops now have merged. She wondered why the Subway had come in and now knew the reason why. The first one felt that it would be a change for the better because the last time they were there, a year ago they demanded their money back because the Country Market buffet was so dirty. The salad bar during that same visit did not have very many offerings.
I noticed that ...
the Country Market restuarant is shut down, the area is sealed off and dark. Three large shipping containers and some heavy construction machinery are in the parking lot choking off some parking spaces for the RVers. The Country Market signs are still up but the seating area is getting a change over to Denny's standards and configurations.
Gone are the TV's where I used to watch Fox News and enjoy the buffet !
There is a sign up that says that they ESTIMATE that Denny's will show up in the old Country Market restuarant space on September 27, 2010.
I hope they allowed the employees to keep their jobs when they go from Country Market to Denny's.Last edited: Sep 21, 2010

I was wrong about State College, it's actually on US-220 west of Altoona. The address is:
115 Pace St.
Nanty Glo, PA, 15943
Doesn't look like it has much if any in the way of parking, but it does have 2 truck diesel islands.

HFC Thanks this. -
Though Denny's has a better looking menu than what we are use to. They top the list with the highest fat content food. Eat up!
HFC Thanks this. -
it's my understanding from talking to differant managers at FJ locations, all resturant employees have to aplly with the Denny's Franchise. -
They have to reapply. And, with the way many Flying Js are, a lot of them could do with new waitstaff. However, Denny's are so slow no one would notice.
I wish they wouldn't shut down the J places, as there's a few things on the menu I like, but at least Denny's won't close after 11. Too bad the last 2 I've been at were so bad that I won't eat at them again. -
Thanks but ----
Ummm ... not my idea of fairness. The former Country Market employees of Flying J should be grandfathered in to the Denny's workforce. Why do I have a funny feeling that the ex-Country Market employees will get replaced with newer, younger and less well paid Denny's employees?Last edited: Sep 21, 2010

Thanks for the information. Yes, I have been in some Denny's four wheeler places, like Tanger Outlet Mall, Commerce, GA and Mall of Georgia, Buford, GA that I swear the wait staff has cobwebs on them from going so slow in serving customers. On the other side of that same coin ... the Beacon Restuarant in Spartanburg, SC actually may offend people with the speed in which they serve customers and if you slow them up ... they yell at you to stand away from the line and not slow up the pace of the establishment.
Now, knock on wood ... my experience with the Flying J's Country Market staff has had a few ups and downs but I can't recall currently a trully horrific situation with the wait staff.
If I had a somewhat less than memorable time with the wait staff at one Flying J then down the road, someone on the wait staff at another Flying J made up for it.
I did like the buffet -- believe it or not. The fried chicken, most of the time, however could stop an RPG round.
Closing times ... good point. Are the Denny's now going to be in the 24/7/365 mode? I did think something was up when I saw that some Country Market restuarants were closing at 12 midnight and some at 11 pm but then not opening up again until 6 am or 7 am.
Does Denny's have a contract with Flying Peelot and for how long? If we have complaints should we direct our wrath to the main Pilot website feedback page or the Denny's feedback page?
