TAs are no worse than Flying Js or any other major truck stops. Some places have a particular notoriety (Jessup, MD, for example), but, all in all, the chain as a whole isn't particularly bad. Some of the non-franchise stores are even pretty nice.

You can sleep/eat at any truckstop. But you will go wherever your company tells you for fuel, and that is where your points and free showers come from. The points can be used to purchase food and merchandise. Get a card from each franchise, you never know where you may fuel at in different parts of the country.

Can't beat TA showers, though. They are much better than any others.
Always very clean and roomy, and they give you more towels and a real cloth floor mat. Generally better shower heads, as well.

    ew2108 Thanks this.

Speaking of showers. As I write this I am parked at the TA in Elkton Maryland. I took a much needed shower at the Flying J here then drove over here to park. Shower #20 has a loose shower head and it sprayed water all over the inside of the room and soaked my clean pants. Oh the joys of trucking.:bootyshake:

I agree about TA Showers. Very nice and the towels and bathmat are a nice feature.
Pilot has quite a way to go to equal the TA showers. Too much variation on Pilots. Some are OK and others are filthy.
