At least Love's is doing that. Now if they could just do something about their showers......

Loves could definitely learn a thing or three though from PFJ or TA/Petro on how to do the showers.

I can tell it must be fat times to be in the truck stop biz. They're pretty much all on a building and renovating bonanza at this point. Not that we should complain or anything, but one of the big "winners" of the modern trucking industry has definitely been the big chain truck stops.

Pilot just took over every Wilco Hess I frequent.... fuel prices went up on average 20 cents a gallon. Service went down hill. Facility Cleanliness took a nose dive due to all the mega carrier trash running in and out. Was truly a sad day when I learned the fate of my favorite "truck stop" chain.

If my conpany did not demand Flying J fuel...(why do so many do that by the way?)....then I would never set foot in a Flying J. Most are absolute dumps.....an absolute circus to move in and all have the same crap give or take a few items. That's all I gotta say about that.

Trucking companies commit to a single chain because of the monthly rebate plan. It's kind of like the Loves driver points system, the more you fuel, the more you earn. (save). They have certain target thresholds that lead to higher gallon rebates for the period.

Missing a threshold by a just a piddly 1,000 gallons might "cost" them $5,000. We can argue about what a given owner will do with that $5,000 but you'd want it too if you were in their position.

I can't believe nobody mentioned this yet:

How are Pilot/Flying J going to compete with other convenience stores when they're so radically overpriced?!?

We truckers are stuck, we can't get into many of the other gas station chains and we certainly can't spend the night. But do they really think 4 wheelers are going to spend $3 for a coke when there's a Royal Farms next door selling 6 packs for $5?

Because they have the best coffee on the interstate.... If they keep saying it, people will start believing it, right? I think it may have BEEN on the actual interstate at one time. Vacuumed up, processed, and recycled.
    Speedway is much better....lol

Quit ur griping. You're making all that money driving on all those easy, dry roads and you're pinching pennies? You pump 200 gallons, they give you $2.00. Does wawa do that?

[Yes. I realize Loves has a much better points system but their showers and wifi suck]

There's a problem with your argument. Most Wawas are either in the northeast/beltway or the I-95 corridor in VA.

Those roads are rarely smooth, dry or easy, and never traffic free.
