Come to Maverick. We have cookies.

And if you go flatbed or glass, you'll definitely cross $50,000 in your second year if you dedicate yourself to it. If you're a really fast learner, you'll come very close in your first year.

The one on the right WAS mine and is a replica of the BJ truck, the one on the left is one of the originals from the show.

I sold the Aerodyne and am running a '79 flattop - it's the top picture in this article:

Maverick is at the top of my list followed by Melton and Millis. From what I can see Mavericks pay before and after finishing school is tops, plus they have great home-time from what I read. CaptainX3, if you don't mind me being nosey, can you pm me on the particulars of your first year and others that you know of personally. It would be nice to have real numbers instead of estimates. Thanks

A tanker jockey is never over qualified. A challenge. Just like flying, 1 chance. I shy away people from pulling a tank. I think you can do it. Unlike a ####pit a truck changes every second. Car on my right, ect.
It's a ball really. Only hauled Nitro for a month. Paid well. Hauled asphalt most of the time. 375 degrees. A pilot of a large car. Excuse my vocabulary I seem to take on the mind sets of others around me. It's a nice way to live.

Motownguy I was like you three years ago, needed to do career change. my reason was economic. I researched operation a long haul truck because I just love trucks. had my license and local experience in numerous types of trucks.
The more i looked into over the road and all the stories of disgruntled people I wasn't excited about the career change.

Then Greyhound Bus ask me to interview. I laughed it off then researched. needless to say two years later the job has given me everything I need and a lot less stress.
I sleep in nice motels not a truck at a truck stop
    its union
pay is better than most truckers make
    vacation pay and medical
    no lumping freight
    no lot lizards
they trained me and paid me
    uniform are professional looking
never need to back into scrapping loading docks
    no gear jamming
no motor noise, buses are pusher
    no overweight issues
    passengers keep you entertained
    fellow employees are professional
    highly disciplined management
you can transfer to any terminal during bidding
    no fueling
    no maintenance
    no cleaning
and did I say they don't want you to back your bus.....
seriously I don't think you would regret doing it.

I also work for the airlines, not as a pilot, but mainline. I have always wondered how the RJ guys make a living, but the love of flying puts 5 at the gate when one leaves. I would think pilots would make good truck drivers (if they are not the big-headed types) with their attention to details, HOS rules, and machine operation background, along with the other skills.

I wish you the greatest success. Please keep us posted of how your job transition goes, and how the life style compares.

    Thanks
