Its 4 miles to the river and the rest area. And a million other places to park in St Paul.

If drivers continue to trash up truck stops like they do increasingly each year, some may well go to "all metered parking", and who can blame them?

At 20:00 on a Wednesday night, the Flying J east of Columbus, OH was nearly full and I got one of the last maybe 2 or 3 spots, and the paid parking only had a few spots left. And the TA [and I assume the Pilot] further east appeared to be jam packed. I took a chance and bypassed the big rest area, and almost severely regretted it.

If every truck stop in the nation required $10 for every truck to park overnight, the carriers would have to pay it, and would pay it over $100 illegal parking tickets or hundreds of HOS violations each night

Once the elog rule kicks in and the truck stops all fill up early, the Megas will have to pay for reserve parking.
Irony, they paid the ATA millions to pass a rule that will cost themselves millions and they don't even know it yet.

elogs is already implemented substantially, and those not on elogs are mostly running legal HOS anyway. So the carriers are already doing today what they'll be doing tomorrow, minus normal increases in volume.

Megas? Why just megas? Everyone will need to pay for parking at some point. I think the "paid parking coming and the sky is going to fall" is much ado about nothing. There are some who pay for parking every single night, just because they're making money, taking the deduction, and want to avoid the risks of being hit in the general parking lot.

This is the dumbest idea yet lets see if we can get more money from drivers what there doing is setting themselfs for a law suit if i pull in and there is no place to park i will take a reserved spot if they say pay for the spot or run out of hrs i will stay there and haslem will be talking to a lawer the next day also since this is such a dumb idea i will make it a mission that there will never be a haslem in any office in the state of tn again all who live in th next time one of the brothers want to run for office lets remind them what they came up with and vote no to anything they want
