I just have to spread the news of Pilot Travel Centers owner/ newly elected TN governor Bill Haslem passed a new TN law.

Effective immediately, TN governor's don't have to disclose how much they make.

Now why would someone pass a law like that???

    What a snake! :biggrin_25512:

Naturally, a few of you failed to read this tiny bit of information...

I think you're just all jealous he makes more money than you do.
You know......that "class warfare" thing the Communists are always trying to foist upon this country?

I wish he had run in the state of Georgia...i would have voted for him.
I think tennessee has gotten themselves a good new Govenor...and i dont care how much $$ he has/makes.
He certainly isnt doing public service work for the money..he wants to serve.

Yes, he did leave Pilot in 2003.... as president. He is still the controlling stock owner.

I don't think a business owner that knows how to squeeze every drop of blood out of customer should jump the fence. Is he going to work for the people or is he going to do everything to make the state more profitable? All I know is Pilot is not run with the customer in mind!

I would be worried if I lived in your state. With the record of the customer being the way they push for, the voters and taxpayers will be regulated to the back burner and business will be the winners in the governors reign.

What successful business is run "with the customer in mind"? A good profitable business knows how to balance cost/profit/customer need, to maintain the success and keep a business running.

I agree, but they also can make political decisions to improve their own interest. It seems like some presidents have done that in the past.

About time this thread gets moved to politics :)

I can't find the exact figure. The best I can do is to provide this link and then someone can file a FOIA request for his salary. The combination of his government salary along with what he is getting still from Pilot makes me think that may have been the reason he passed that rule that he does not have to reveal Mayoral income from now on.
