why would you not get points? aren't your Pilot, FJ, etc. card in your name, and swiped by you when you fuel, etc. I'v had my FJ card about 18 mos, and just finally got myfirst rewards coupon, woohoo, $5.00. Shows how infrequently I fuel when on the road.

Ask the truckstop manager what the deal is. I thought the rewards card was from the truckstop to the driver, a reward for fueling there. The points are cashed in for grub or shelf stuff, right?
-
The company involved has a big discount on the fuel prices from Pilot. Pilot stated that to get it they would not be getting points on the fuel for the drivers.
Being the fabulous company that cares for a driver they went for it. When it was first implemented, showers were not even allowed. -
If I were you I would go around as many of the tolls as you can.
Indiana and Ohio are easy to skip. My company will not let us run those anyway.
IL we are allowed, just no skyway. -
WOW!!! So I guess the company gets another penny a gallon off instead of the drivers getting the points. Our company gets discounts on the pump price (no I don't know how much) but at least we get the points. Not much better than free coffee.

We also get points on our card also, the only problem we have is if you dont use the shower within a certain time they delete them off.

I appreciate all the responses on this thread.....I guess it really shows how some companies really treat their drivers....
As regards the tolls I try as much as possible to go round them wherever....but a lot of the time it is just not practical or it just takes way too much time...I also avoid the IN tolls as much as possible and the OH tolls you can avoid if you want to troll through Cleveland, but the CHI tolls are difficult to avoid really as a lot of the time you end up on the Ike or arounr the loop, although I have found some better routes out of CHItown (namely when headed back south through US45 and through Frankfort,IL and onto I57 just north of Kankakee.
As far as the showers go, I think all of the rewards they get deleted after usually 7 days I think.
The big issue for me is that I know it's not a lot, like $1 per gallon on Pilot, but that mounts up a lot over the year....kind of like an added bonus....and I didn't realize until now that they could actually be taken away...and so far I haven't found a SINGLE other company where they do take them away. With things as tight as they are all over at the moment (raises being frozen at most trucking companies - although most actually TELL their drivers - this one did not....)it just helps that occasionally you can use your card to get a coffee, a sandwich or whatever....
Like I said before the one thing that really sticks in my throat from this is that someone at the company had to have called someone at Pilot to find out how they could save as much $$$$$ as possible and when they were told that the drivers would lose their points...then so what!!!
Oh well...
take care all and stay safe!

Well Ill toss in what I know.
When I started with Schneider, they did NOT allow points on the Pilot cards, only showers. The card is tied in with the card you use for fueling. Not tied in per se, but you use it in conjunction with it. you first put in your fuel card and THEN the pilot card. The deal the trucking company has with the truck stop will either allow points or not.
The companies might save a penny a gallon or whatever, but heck...look at SNI. If they have 20k trucks each filling 150 gallons a day, those pennies add up pretty darned quick. Not that I support that.
anyways, we DO get points now...but I dont fuel up much each day...usually about 70-90 gallons each day. We also get points at the TA's but its such a pain to get points that I rarely fuel there. -
just a little update.....i have been approved for crete and should start there on the 28th....

I've never had problems getting the points unless the card reader was screwed up!
Piolts now drop off the showers after 3 days unless they finally got it through their brains from all of the complaints.
Some cards drop off the "bonus" points after one year from date so I always used mine when they hit $50 as food got expensive!
