Yea we use them primarily as lowboy trucks pulling four and five axle lowboys. They can be a bit of a ##### in corners and are absolutely useless in the mud as we get stuck on the dead axle in the back. If you do it you should seriously consider a dual tired steerable axle as they are much better in the corners and be sure you build it as a lift.

Would it not be easier to use a 1axle dolly trailer?

The problem with a single axle jeep is it jumps our deck height up about a foot with the high fifth wheel they are also a pia to back up. We have one bug it never gets used.

Like @haulhand said. My interest in a Pin on third axle is for use pulling a 3 axle 48x102 flatbed. Already have a high enough deck height. Don't want it going higher.

If I had a pin on third axle it would probably put my tare somewhere around 42-45k. That increases my payload from 80K to 90-95k on a 3 axle flat. My trailer is rated for 100k in 10ft. Gross weight would be between 135-140k max depending on how far I could slide under the neck.

Right now for those 90-95k loads I have to run my really big trailer with at least the booster and possibly even the jeep. Would save a ton on permitting and escorts to only have the Flatbed.

This thread has gotten me to thinking. I've never seen a jeep hooked to a flatbed but I don't see why it wouldn't work, other than height issues.

I wonder if anybody has ever tried two jeeps in one? One regular jeep and another single axle jump jeep between it and the tractor.

I've never pulled a jump jeep. Can you jump them while loaded?

The second jeep would need a really long neck to be of any advantage, a jump jeep wouldn't work at all behind a traditional jeep.

I can answer that. You really don't want to do it. I had to put a jump jeep in front of my 3 axle jeep one time because of frost laws in Alberta. Don't try backing up far..I could back my 13 up some, but the jump jeep makes it worse
It put me another 10 inches higher also
I darn near had my trl on the ground to keep at orginal ld permit hgt.
Was a long trip as the weather was not the best. Dropped it at customer to go to the unlding area, as I had to chain up to pull the ice packed haul road

Oh and backing the jump jeep under my jeep sitting on 6 inch blocks was fun. Darn near get it up the ramps and it felt like it wanted to shotgun you forward when the weight transfer hit.
It can be done, but once was enough for me
