Tell them you want to lay down before they check your BP. Lay down on your left side and have them take it while you are still laying down for about 5 minutes, using your right arm of course. Works every time for a favorable reading. Doctor gave me that tip and it works every time.

On the med issue, if Lisinopril isn't working, ask your doctor to try something else. That med is an entry level med that isn't effective with a lot of folks. I had to change because I consistently got higher readings, even on 40mg a day. Losartan is what I'm on now. Just a suggestion. I'm not a doctor, but I play one a Trucker's Forum

 

I had the same problem so I doubled up on the medication(Diovan) for a few days and then the nurse used a larger cuff so I passed with a 1 yr. card. No doctor in the world would recommend what I did, but with a wife and children to take care of, I was desperate. My blood pressure was good always until the DOT physical. It always jumps then.

EAT bananas ..MORNING OF TEST SLAM 5-6 BOTTELS OF WATER....NO BS...I HV HIGH BLOOD PRESURE..I DO TAKE MEDS..BUT I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF FINDING THE RT MED FOR ME TO TAKE WHEN I SWITCHED JOBS..SO MY BP WAS NOT STABLE..THERE FOR I DID exactly WHAT I AM suggesting TO YOU...BUT BYE NO MEANS AM I suggesting YOU DONT GET CHECKED OUT..JUST DO THIS FOR TEST...GOOD LUCK..NO BS...

 

I have had 124 / 73 before, at the Terminal. Stage 1 one diabetes. Better eat right, or quit driving. Loose weight, and exercise. I'm not fat, 30 lbs over. I don't feel better, I still have my Lease/Job.

 

Schnieder has a lot of weirdness going on. I went to an orientation for them once and was denied because of a non DoT physical aerobic test my heartbeat was 2 beats higher than they wanted it to be after a battery of exercises. Got a ride home and they have been bugging me to come back ever since. No thanks, they burned that bridge.

No one will qualify you with those numbers.

 

Sleep on your left side,the night b4......that was advice from my doctor.Also,practice breathing,and make sure they use the right size blood pressure cuff.I used to lift weights,and have large diameter arms.T he right size cuff does make a difference,and these medical people sometimes get lazy....oh,i do'nt know who took THATcuff,we will try this size instead....these people are getting paid to qualify you for the job,do not let them set you up for failure,by being lazy or intentionally incompetant.
