    Thanks, but that is limited.
One State troopers are not bound.
Two is they cannot use a Doppler based radar gun. (Are there any others?). They can however match speed in the patrol car.

Still it's scary that is actually a law. What's the point of speed limits if they cannot be enforced?

I am aware...I mentioned that in my 1st post. However, 10-14 mph over the posted speed limit is zero points on your license. "Most" Troopers won't bother you for running 69 mph in a 55 zone...depending on the conditions and area.

Matching your speed with their vehicle is called pacing. It is kinda hard for it to stand up in court. A recipient of a speeding ticket from pacing can subpoena records of the patrol vehicle varifying the speedometer has been calibrated. If they cannot produce the record (and a lot can't) the ticket is tossed. Actually used that to get out of paying a ticket about 22 years ago.

When you drive for a living, it sometimes pays to know the traffic laws to a T. I'm all about being responsible for my actions...but if there's a loophole, don't let me find it.

TN does have split truck speed limits established in Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Knoxville which are also the big cities that have whatever they are calling smog days these days.

I can actually raise and lower my cholesterol through deep meditation. I was stopped for speeding one time and the EPA fine was three fold. One fine was $200 for not running catalytic converters, one fine was $500 for having open cutouts on dual 3 inch exhaust. The third fine was for $650 for accelrated tire wear, measured on the spot in the thousandths of an inch. Tires are made from a lot of oil bi-product, so they said I was contributing to global warming. I just paid the fines and bought a Chevy Volt.

Mass is following Cali with their state wide 55mph for trucks only. Yeah we all do 55 until a lead bull leads the charge and we are all doing 65 or 70 ;)

I live in Arkansas and in most places you would have a hard time finding a state trooper to mess with you for going 5mph over in a truck. In a car 10 over.
