i believe I know the answer to this but I’d like to hear some expert opinions.

Tomorrow I’ll have my usual flammable and non flammable placards as I’m a cylinder hauler. I will also be displaying an inhalation hazard placard as I will he hauling chlorine which has a RQ of 10 lbs and requires a placard.

I will finally have over 1,001 lbs of acid in 55 gallon drums. I know this requires a fourth placard displaying corrosive.

At which point do these labels require the UN number. In particular the inhalation hazard and corrosive material?

I believe that a larger quantity of these gases IE in a tanker would require a UN number as its in bulk. This mostly doesn’t apply to my daily functions but I’d like to know out of curiosity and to get a better understanding.

The JJ Keller books and FMSCA is basically like interpreting Chinese

Corrosive, that amount doesn't require the UN 1830 corrosive.

The UN number is required for shipments in bulk packaging, or for more than 8800 or so pounds of the same product on the truck with nothing else on board.

Shipments requiring display of the number due to bulk packaging are not to be counted toward your aggregate total for placard requirements.
