The HVAC control panel applies to much torque to the blend door and or its actuator and makes a clicking sound, sometimes it gets quite loud. They have an updated control panel with new software in it that is supposed to fix that. I just installed mine so not sure if it will fix it or not. Truck isn’t warmed up right now so we’ll see once I get loaded and running.
let me know if it does I'll ask but like I said they replaced the control panel but that's was just the switches control switches it has one plug on it. I did think it had any software needed updated but let me know cause if it gets wood packer out my dash lol. I'm all for it.
OK, thanks Oscar. Mine doesn't click. I just hear the door open and close when I have a mid temp setting.
I was told no go on fixing it deal with sound they have no clue I was told leave it on full hot or full cold. and deal with it. lol $157k for a truck that 3rd grader could built better. I think they painted it in dark worest paint job ever hood all ready been repainted what a joke
Wow, sounds like Star still has issues at their factories. My 2013 4900 came like it was built by disgruntled drug addicts. All kinds of build flaws, and then it was just a nightmare it's whole life. My 2020 was way better and I still like it, but it has some component issues. By 1000 hours/29,000 KM's it has already had the purge valve, unloader, and then the whole air dryer replaced, the rear view mirrors twice under warranty and then one night it started getting a slight grind when upshifting from low to high range. I thought it was the air freezing up because the splitter had a slight delay (Eaton 18 speed), then by the end of that 8 hour shift it literally exploded inside, LOL. First transmission failure I have seen in over 35 years.
I'm talking with a lawyer now since there is no lemon law for semi we have to use some other laws that work i guess same way if I listed all things that went wrong on my truck it be 2 pages long only thing I can say is my 505 hp Detroit has been great. killer fuel milage crazy part is I love the truck the look the style of interior just want what I paid for that's all
Yes, it really is too bad because as you say I really like the trucks, the styling, they have the nicest interiors of all trucks.
the noise from the heater is the actuator mounted to the fire wall. if you remove from mount and just let it hang there or get it away from the solid mount to the wall you won't here it any more.
Blend door actuators and controller are a recall item. Convex mirrors on 5700 are recall as well. Plastic tabs break and they flop around on ball socket behind them.
