I originally did not consider Volvo because they have almost 10% Chinese ownership (Geely), and have heard that dealer support & service can be problematic, as the "semi" retired said. I am open to the idea however, I understand drivers like them. Have you encountered any problems getting service or parts when needed from the dealer network or independent mechanics?

Man, there are so many businesses with better returns than trucking. Plus, most other businesses have far less gov't interference. I'm in the business out of necessity and it helps my other businesses to have the trucks. When I do my numbers, trucking is the least profitable of my business ventures as a stand alone.

Geely is one of the most successful truck & automobile companies on the planet.
They also buy failing automobile and truck companies and revive them to profitability.
London Black Taxi and Volvo automobiles are two examples.`
    `
Black Taxi was not very profitable, but now being exported from the UK to China and other countries.

Its certainly not a done deal, just writing a business plan and getting some advice from you experienced guys. You all just might talk enough sense into me to encourage me to back out, but I want to explore it further for now. Will send u a DM!!

No doubt they are successful, but I prefer to buy American whenever possible. I am encouraged that Volvo does some manufacturing here in the USA.

If you are saying this to keep competition away, I agree with you. Otherwise this isn't true.

You can DM me if you like, but I'm an oddity around this forum. I just run Alaska, and short range at that. Not really helpful in your situation. I own a multi-facetted business and trucking is a necessary part of it, so I understand the cost of truck ownership, but the income side is very different. I've researched expanding my trucking business and I just can't see the profits I'd like to see.

Volvo employs about 17,700 people in the USA. So, it's a positive company for America.
