I have noticed that I need to have a mic plugged into my BearTracker 885 CB/Scanner unit to monitor the scanner portion without RF distortion. Is there such a thing as a dummy plug that would accomplish the same thing? I have 2 other radios in the rack that I use to monitor 19 and communicate with my pilot cars and police escorts. Just want to eliminate some clutter, and use the 885 for the scanner only. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Is it 6 pin like the Bearcat 880 and 980 ? If yes a Magnum 4 pin to 6 pin adapter will work, but not sure if a mic would have to be connected to achieve what you are trying to do.

I’d just gather it up with zip ties to place out of way.

I’ve enjoyed mine. Will be re-installing it into current truck in overhead before long.

Deciding to use two radios has made me laugh at myself. Ain’t no fool like an old fool.

If you had an extra six pin plug, I’m sure you could wire the 2 pins to engage the receiver. The problem is, since this is a brand new model radio, there’s not a schematic out yet to show the mics pinout. I wouldn’t recommend you trying to figure it out on your own, or you might wind up with a very expensive paperweight. The reason is that if it’s like the 980, I believe one of the pins has about 8 Volts DC power to it. If you accidentally short that pin, it would not be good. The best thing would probably be to call a CB shop, and check with their technician to see if they could do that for you.

Good ideas all! Yeah, I run 2 radios, one antenna each. ( 2 tram dual coils, 102” apart) Main is a Ranger RCI 63FFD4 10 m 400w, and Secondary is a Predator TG 10 m 50 w. I like that one for the 10 weather bands. My avg load is about 68 on the deck and about 15 plus wide so I’m on the radios all day with the escorts, and like to monitor 19 for local. The BC 885 is a real nice addition for the scanner portion as it is constantly following GPS and broadcasts local police, etc. it’s just the clutter of more mics that’s bugging me...

You could also consider purchasing the Uniden wireless mic that works on the 980, then you could just have the holder/ jack part in the mic connection, that might work.
