I've just done a google search for possible locations you might be able to park at. I've come up with the fairgrounds, a truck stop and several trucking companies. I'm not sure how they will enforce that five mile thing. I've never had a problem and even have had to leave the truck twenty miles away. Roehl has it's issues, but usually on something like this they will usually work with you. They may even help you find someplace to park. They want the truck where you can check on it while at home, especially during the winter. If your truck is a half hour away it's a lot harder to check it than if it's a five or ten minute drive.

you know i wonder if a former trucking company's location that is all locked up and up for sale or lease, if the real estate company handling that lease/sale would be receptive to earn some cash for rental of parking..??
check closed up yards, and call the number..??
bear in mind however, that your trucking company may NOT reimburse you for this 'rent"......i know i was never able to be reimbursed.
this is yet in another reason i will not go OTR anymore as i wish NOT to be bothered working for a company that cannot provide ME with secured parking. these frigging trucking companies make it sound so simple sometimes....they actually think EVERYONE can park a combo unit in their driveways....
what a bunch of moronic, jerks...Laner99 Thanks this. -
Should this be a warning sign to me? I have read a lot of positive things about Roehl......hardly any negative. -

Why not post your question on the Roehl section of the Trucking Company DAC reports? There may even be some other drivers from the area you're going to be working out of that can help. I'm no kool aid drinker, but it isn't the job of a company to find a place for you to park either at night or when you are at home. They should be able to help, but you are ultimately the one responsible for parking your truck safely.

I pray I find something soon. I wanted/needed to use this time & energy on studying the permit manual instead of stressing and still researching. Oh well, that's the way it is. -
Chicago area is one of the worst places. When I was up there I rented a space at a boat storage place. $50 a month. Your dispatcher will work with you. 30 miles isn't nothing. You'll be dead heading alot further home than that. Just make sure if your ever drop at a truck stop, get the managers approval and put a kingpin lock on it. I wouldn't lock the doors. That'll just make someone think there is something in it.
Laner99 Thanks this. -
Roehl wants the doors locked whether empty or loaded. As long as you follow their policy you're covered. I can't speak for other companies.
