There's a lot of trucking work in Boston and immediately around Boston. With a lot of outfits that don't care about truck year. And that will make you one hell of a lot more than any outfit demanding a newer ride.
    Just saying.
Get what you want, specced to do the job you're going to do. Then go do it.

Because you made a comment about all these new trucks that you see on the highway. A truck mechanic would be talking about what he sees com through his shop for repair.

Like Ruthless says, do what you want. You asked for advice and it's been given.

I was a fleet mechanic for a fleet of 30 trucks and several pieces of heavy equipment I am now the mechanic for a Rigging co and also operate their 90 tone grove crane...so no i don't see what gets towed in i only know my fleet...i also watch the threads on this and other forums and i notice that unlike 2008/2009 there are not a lot of trucks on the side of the road waiting to be towed

I still see them on the side. Sometimes with the hood up and sometimes limping along. Especially in the winter....DEF freezes. I suppose the limpers could be trying to defeat E-logs I don't now. Don't care. Why anyone would willingly buy a E-truck I do not know.

Mileage The newer trucks are getting great mileage, Driver comfort....why do you think carriers are buying new trucks There are also more o/o buying newer trucks....the newer trucks are more dependable since the addition of DEF you might be happy with your 51/2 mpg truck but i wouldn't be happy unless i was near or over 7 mpg get a calculator and do the math at 100k miles a year that is a huge savings....and trucking is all about making money that's why they make chocolate and vanilla if what you are doing works for you that's great
