Listen, carbs are poison, we don't need them. Your job as a truck driver is already stressful and you're not getting enough and consistent sleep. On top of that if you keep ingesting carbs, you're going to kill yourself.
Watch how high this guy's fasting glucose level is because of lack of sleep. Now imagine if this guy eats a large Big Mac meal with a large Coca Cola.
Its not just that carbs and sugar can cause diabetes, it's not just that. There's something dangerous called insulin resistance which can cause all kinds of health problems, including high blood pressure and fatty liver.
So if you're already stressed and don't get enough sleep, do not make things a lot worse for yourself by eating carbs. If you have a sweet tooth and crave something sweet, eat some raspberries with an avocado and some macadamia nuts and call it good. Having a few grams of carbs mixed with healthy fats and protein is fine.
Take care of your health, for the sake of your loved ones

Good general advice but its not as easy as "eat less garbage" sadly. And while for some drivers who can stop at a walmart every night it may not be too bad. For many more of us its hard to get by a store consistantly let alone reliably for fresh avicados. So id say the advice needs to be temepered by reality.
Also there are good carbs, neutral carbs and bad carbs. For example, a baked sweet potato is pretty good for you, so are lentils and they make for good food. Lots of mcdiarrheabasedfoodproduct in a sack. Or candy or white bread. Less so. Even stuff like pasta is fine on occasion or as a base to a healthy meal. Its all in prep and amounts.
Sugar, no arguments if they could figure out how to put sugar into sugar and make sugar squared in food they bloody would it feels like. But whats going to get a LOT of drivers aint going to be carbs or sugar. Its going to be constant sitting, excessive caffine (like seriously i know one dude thst pounds 3 or 4 monsters....a day and another who drinks so much coffee he bleeds it) overeating and in general poor diet more then a specific thing. Just generally doing your best to not overeat, move around and trying your best to eat better will do far more for your health then "avoid the thing".
Also as for sleep. Unless your up all night playing video games or some crap most drivers SHOULD be getting 6 to 8 hours. And even there, it varys on how much someone needs. Im fine on 5-6 hours and much more then that and i feel like crap. My dad needs 9 to be funcrional and always has. If someone is not getting enough sleep they have diffrent issues.bryan21384 Thanks this. -
Carbs are not bad if you eat the right ones, the complex ones.....nuts, beans, brown rice, oatmeal. I'm eating beans as we speak. It's healthy and you'll fart a lot.

Cut out sugar along time ago, sugar is the root of all evil for me, carbs I can and do go without bread, don't think I have eaten bread on like 8 or so years. But like other people have said complex carbs are not unhealthy, you need far less of them in this job than anyother where you are active the whole time, but just sitting and driving, you really don't.
