I’m on a dedicated, hauling auto parts.

It has its own issues, mostly with a lack of communication, regarding unforeseen changes. It’s all set up on a JIT schedule, so communication is essential for it to properly work. Unfortunately, some don’t understand teamwork. It’s not hard.

O/O with new 23 VNL 860 and 22 Utility Dry van. I used to be a Production Manager over about 50-150 employees depending on the date. Ran a custom shop that made displays with electronics in them for places like Best Buy, Walmarts, Sony, and Stop & Shop to name a few. Did it for 15 years before going to Oilfield to work as a Torque & Test and was getting ready to run the yard before oilfield went to junk again. Then went off and did some custom work on homes for a few years before I decided to go out and buy a truck. One of the high end homes I finished. All custom kitchen I did by hand and redid all the floors and finished. IMG_7733.JPG IMG_7733.JPG IMG_7735.JPG IMG_7740.JPG IMG_7743.JPG IMG_7746.JPG

I don’t know anything about them but my guess is that they are both natural born elite salesmen.

If you can find and acquire the customers then that’s 3/4 of the battle. Then just start building up your staff and keep your cash flow in check as you go.

If I understood the article correctly it sounds like the first year they ran the logistics company the bulk of their business was moving their own product. I would imagine that established them with some repeat carriers and once they could prove they were moving X number of truck loads a week then that made it easier to go after other customers because they had a track record for finding trucks to move loads.
