Perfect, I use RPM if it is longer. to add, and adjust for the new market are if it is a drop. I actually started at $25 hoping for $50. Ended up being $75. I thought we both made off well.
Exactly, why should I eat that cost? If the carrier can deliver early and the customer has no problem with it, cool, go get it done let me see if I can put you on one of my loads. But if the customer is going to charge me then no. And customers never have a problem with us calling in to verify in and out times. especially if we are going to ask that they pony up for detention. Cant count hopw many times a carrier has embelished on waiting time or was late and wanted detention, the customer loves having us check up that. I think they would drop us faster if they new we werent being diligent with their money as well.
I'm with you on that. Calling for detention times is one thing, that cost's them money. Calling for something they will charge for is another thing. Question for you,are you with a brokerage that you have little if any contact direct with the customer? Or does most interaction happen with a customer rep? Are they "your" customer(that you sold)or do you have sales only people? You did say that someone else enters the load info.(weights, sizes, ect) That would explain(at least to me)some of your questions/concerns.
we do a combination of both. We have a sales team who deals directly with loads to our bigger customers. I also have my own customers who I have my own customers as well who are smaller and have more infrequent loads. But yes, most of the load info is done by another party.
I make perfect since, SIR! You holding a 150k truck , a 50k trailer ,and its owner for a day , and it should be just fine ? 24 years old , and new member , and almost everyone else here is wrong ??? Grow up SON !
I apologize I was unable to decipher your gibberish. Your argument holds no value in this discussion. You have brought nothing of value. If you agree with them, thank them for their input. Or offer some of your own. No one is wrong, no one is right, it is a discussion. There are variables we are discussing in which there are clear and sometimes not so clear answers. You spouted out osmething about a gun to someones head, and then told me you have a 150k truck and 50 k trailer, told me my age, then told me to grow up. No it shouldnt be fine if we hold you for a day, we pay layover, i was arguing for the opposite. You still havent offered anything to support anything. Thank for your invaluable input, but i think it will be best served on another post. Learn to read the entire feed, let it merinade, then reply, Dad.
Actually, I got what he was saying and he's right. What you really need to do is check yourself and realize that the people you're conversing with here in most cases have forgotten more than you've learned in your entire career. Don't be so quick to write off someone's input because they don't articulate like a Rhodes Scholar.
You understood what he meant by his first post? I know most of these guys know what they are talking about. But im not going to take that from a guy who cant type. Doesnt need to be a Scholar to make what he's saying understandable.
You know what he meant by, -So some holds you at gun point for a day , that ok ? If apologies are in order for me not understanding this than I am sorry.
His first post, in a nutshell was, you're booking the entire truck. Whether you put one 5 lb box in it, or roll it at 45k, the price is the price. Then went on to describe a sweet expedite deal he used to have, and had actually trucked one five pound box for a TL rate once upon a time. So maybe he's not a fantastic typist. His message was pretty clear to me. Maybe not as easy to read as others, but so what? The input is probably more valuable than anything I've contributed with my vast almost three years in the business.
