28, I just started at Conway Truckload. You should look into them.
I've heard (but could be mistaking) that if you are an experienced driver they will do your orientation in Joplin. I've heard that they send you to a school there for a refresher style course. I could be wrong, but this is the impression that I got while listening to others stories.
Perhaps someone from Conway on here can fill you in more. (Post in the conway forum)
If you have any questions about them I would be happy to let you know. So far I love it.
Please help! I can't find my answer on here!

Try "Wel Companies", it's a reefer company out of WI. They have had an ad on Creigslist in So. IL for drivers out of Cape.
I worked for them for awhile. For me it didn't work because I needed to have more consistent miles. I live in So. Il. and at the time they had a problem getting me home after a month out.
I couldn't tell you anything about their training program but I know they do have one. Not a school but they have trainers for new drivers to go with and there is pay connected with that. -

Once again, Maverick verified with my previous employer... that employment was verified! Maverick said that since it is not full-time employment, it does not count. Therefore, I have no verifiable (according to Maverick) income for past three years.
I have tried contacting my recruiter, and he all of a sudden is always "on the phone" when I call. I have also e-mailed him multiple times with no response. Also, prior to their decision to not hire me, he replied to all e-mails and accepted each call. Now when i call in (the last two times) the two different people I spoke to were very rude and not helpful at all.
I guess since I am of no use to them anymore their attitudes have changed.
It's a shame, I thought (from what I heard) that Maverick was a class act! Turns out that their recruiting department is no better than anyone else's.
It's fine though, I will keep searching. -
Just my 2 cents, but unfortunatly most company only hire based on recent experience in the last 3 years, some require recent experience in the last 1 year.
I know tmc does have a training program if you wanna flatbed, so u could try that. Otherwise, you may try a traning company with a refresher, just to get moving, swift, central refrigerated, covenent, not the best companies, but the pay may be better than the part time job and in 6 months or so, you can move onto a better company and make a better living. Good luck, hope u find a good job. -

Although I do not agree with the unemployment/part time rule, they only hire hard working professional people and try to weed out people who are potential problems. Not saying that you are one of them, but Maverick tries to only accept the best. In orientation about 30 people were sent home and only a few of us remained who really wanted to be there. You can give up trying to work around their rules, just get the recent experience they want or find another company.

Oh and they've got a drop yard in St Louis, Terminal in Kansas City, Gary, So you'll be somewhat close to your home more often than many.
Good Luck
