There's an "experienced, no accident, driver shortage" for sure.

However, there is a pay shortage.

 

... for inexperienced drivers, yes j/k

But, I'm still under a year experience. The carrier I drive for constantly hires.

New drivers usually quit or crash within 90 days.

Consequently, pay increases after 90, 120, 360 days.

But, even with low starter pay, it's normal for me to take home $800-1000 and home weekends. And that's not just reset. I push to get home Friday night and I don't go out again until Monday.

Once I get that magical year, I'm gone.

Well, I really push myself. I always drive out my clock. I sleep at receivers.

My thinking is that I'm away from family to make money. I only make money when I'm moving. I can't move if my clock is out. So, I do #### to protect my clock that makes life not so comfortable. I mean, no one wants to sleep in a ####ing industrial conplex. But, if it gets me more miles to get home faster, so be it.
