Is Werner Really That Bad?? IT Seems They Have Alot More To Offer Than Stevens..
-
Just from looking around here, I haven't seen anything positive about Werner. What is it you think Werner offers? CPM is less I'm pretty sure, at least after their sliding pay scale. Most likely don't have a 1500 mile average load length. Again, just from what I've seen on here, a few people like stevens, but I've yet to hear anything nice about Werner. Then again, Steven's is nothing special, so if you haven't looked into other companies, you should.

Werner Has Regional alot Of Dedicated Lanes, Refeer And Flatbed, Where Stevens Is Strictly Reefer. They Both Start At The Same Cpm I Was Leaning Towards Werner But The Majority Says Stevens...
-
I think you should decide exactly what you want to do. Don't plan on getting a dedicated lane out of school (YES, I know it happens sometimes, lol), but regional should be easy enough. What kind of freight do you want? I didn't even know Werner had a flatbed division. Something I noticed about Werner, is they had a pretty smooth recruiter in my area, had me ready to fill out an app (before CPM came up...). They'll say what you want to hear.
I don't think you mentioned, why are you only applying to these two companies? Stevens doesn't seem to be awful, but there are better starter companies, especially since you seem to dislike reefers (which is better money than dry van). -
Stevens has APU's.

Do tell, whats Werner have to offer that impresses you?Any company that has a high turnover rate is a huge red flag to look else where.

If the trailers I've pulled as a power only carrier for Werner is any indication of the quality of maintenance, they are failure to launch personified!
-
I worked at Werner for a while and most of the Driver Managers and Dispatchers talk to drivers like they are dirt.
My biggest complaints about Werner were(1)Never got me home ontime, usually 2~3 days late everytime (2) The so-called electronic logs they use are really bad, it is a Macro System (3) The would sometimes give me a week with no miles and lots of time sitting at docks so I could pick up loads and give them to a Team.
The things I liked about Werner (1)Good Safety Bonus (2)Did not seem to mind if you hooked stuff up in your truck, such as inverters (3)Lots of trailers, did not have many times when I could not find an MT
Hope this helps...232trucker Thanks this. -
And 1500 watt power inverters.
