You really need to see the snap shot readings to see what is going on , a leaking CAC you,ll pick up with dddl as will blocked dp sensor but if your truck is running fine get somebody to plug in and check the difference between the barometric sensor and manifold pressure sensor if there is 2 psi difference change the manifold pressure sensor and also check your harness plug for the turbo speed sensor both will cause your symptoms
Where were you when I was having all these problems I spent over $5,400 trying to fix my Egr did Egr valve Egr coler v-pod turbo ECM inter coler all of it than I changed the delta p and bam problem fixed what pisses me off is it was the cheapest part out of everything I had mine on the dyno twice and that didn't help at all my truck was going into full Egr under a load Egr temp was getting over 600 and was going into default mod
Ok. No, you can't do an EGR delete and still legally run in Cali. Yes, CAC's can cause issues. Yes, an EGR issue can affect fuel economy. No, a laptop will not tell you everything. Sometimes, a dealership is the place to go. No, you don't always have to replace a delta p sensor (you can recalibrate it if your ECM software is up to date). No, the delta p is not the only EGR sensor (EGR temp is located in the cold pipe just in front of the right corner of the valve cover). No, his truck doesn't have two VPOD's (DDEC IV's are the only S60 to have two VPOD's as the EGR valve is pneumatic not hyrdraullic). NO, a turbo doesn't always have to be replaced for a VNT Vanes Not Responding code (turbo actuator calibrations are more effective than turbo replacement as it calibrates the turbo to your engine). No, you can't fool the ECM into thinking your running through Denver without causing other issues. Don't listen to truck driver's, listen to professionals.
Yeah, that would be a bummer. I have had enough of this emissions game. I managed to do an end run on my ISX. But I said "no more" and ordered up a glider with a pre-egr Series 60 in it. Maybe one day, like happened with autos, they will finally get emissions systems on diesels that work with little problem, but I am not going to let them use me anymore as a guinea pig to find out what works and what doesn't. The OEM's can learn on their own dime. I haven't done California since '99, so not having a truck that complies with CARB is a non issue. Just flat breaks my heart..... NOT.
Hi Allen, I'm a technician and what you are describing are common S60 egr problems and most shop will keep spending your money to solve this Code 39 problem. Even most Detroit dealers are having trouble solving these code 39 problems. The solution is to upgrade it to a hybrid S60 and your problems will never re-occur fuel econ and power will increase 0.5 to 1.5 mile depending on your foot. Sincerely, ISF
Check your v power sensor .thats where the vnt line or vane starts from. I had same problem. Vpower sensor controls the turbo boost power .
IPS, Can u explain. (hybrid S60), Summer I get terrific fuel mileage, Winter I can loose 1-1.5mpgs. 39 code shows up once in a blue moon. Last time it popped , took it to DD and nothing wrong. I was thinking temp censor sticking.
