I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't even have a say in the matter. Even if he did, he's working for a crap company, that probably treats him like crap and pays him crap wages. Then they offer him a 3cpm raise. What would you have done in his shoes?
-
But you are right; it's very dangerous. But England and companies like it are the ones who should be held accountable for that kind of crap.

When I finished my phase 2 at CRE, they told me to sit through a 2 hour class that was actually about 45 minutes and then congratulated me on being a trainer. They wanted me to get a trainee immediately but I opted to drive solo - being a LO, I had that option but they didn't like it.
I kept getting messages that they were going to route me through a terminal so I could get a trainee, and I'd remind them that I was a trainee.
You'll pay for bucking the system and so most drivers won't do it. Other drivers may feel they've got it under control.
Can't speak for the OP, but CRE will certainly put a good deal of pressure on you to do as they want you to do. And you'll either do it or you'll suffer for a while. Most people can't afford to suffer.
Me, I never did pick up a trainee. I was much too busy trying to learn.
Edit: I should point out, in all fairness, that bearing pressure doesn't equate to forcing someone to do something. Obviously, CRE never forced me to get a trainee, and while I may have suffered some, both me and CRE eventually got over it and started putting miles behind us. Part of that was that I had to show them I could drive solo and make all my appointments on time and without excuses. England, like any other company, is in it for them (as they should be.) You have to be in it for you.

Putting the topic of training aside, I agree getting your first 6 months with one carrier is important. However if you can't get your home time most companies that will hire you at your current experience level will definitely understand. Like someone else mentioned, whatever you do don't abandon your truck or load. Most anything else can be discussed and explained.

to the OP....i am sorry...not trying to pick on you.....i hope you find a better situation soon...be safe....

Sounds like their goal is to have a short "real" training period, then just have a team of newbies help each other out. I'd say the real argument is whether the "phase 1" training is adequate, but again, that's not what this should be about here, lol.
Like the others here have said, you work for CRE. Other companies aren't gonna think twice about you looking for another job, it's pretty close to the norm. What would look bad is quitting then looking tho, because that's gonna make you look like you just couldn't hack trucking and threw a temper tantrum, lol.
I don't know who hires close to where you are, but the mega carriers hire almost nationwide, so just check around on here what the better ones are. If you can do teams, US Xpress pays well (44 CPM, 48 with hazmat). From what I've been told on here, Crete, Prime, Maverick, Schneider and Melton are good. Those aren't the only ones, but the ones I can think of atm. Just look around on here, it's pretty much the question everyone asks and is answered at least 3 times a day on here, lol. -
What is England telling you as to why they're not getting you home?Far as reimbursement from another company,in this case I think you're SOL because you did'nt attend a non company school or college for your CDL.

Example:
Step 2: Apply at Schneider about two weeks before you graduate.
You can expect to hear back from a recruiter in just a few days. You must be hired within 60 days of graduation to qualify for tuition reimbursement so applying early is helpful.Chase05 Thanks this.
