I would stay away from Mr. P if at all possible-they dont have the best reputation around L-ville. The better route would to go through the school in E-town but everyone has to start somewhere. You might check with Paveco in Clarksville.

They will be plenty of companies that will hire you. Just explain as you told us here. Plus the ticket is a few years old. That works in your favor. I don't know where you are at, but make sure you pay the restoration fee to the State that restored your license. Very important, because you will be suspended again for not paying that fee. Talking from experience the ticket was 20 years old. Hired a lawyer the whole nine yards. Never recieved the restoration letter. NY and NJ DMV's do not comunicate with one another. Trust me!!! I found out the hard way...

Thanks ACE. I live in Louisville, KY. I had my license in California. Now it's Kentucky. so you say there are plenty of companies that will hire me without making me wait a year? If so do you have any recommendations?

You'll be able to get on with just about any company you want. Just explain the ticket during the interview process, don't leave the information off your app..

The only fly in the ointment I can see here. Is, if KY is like "some" states. The actual "start date" of the violation, does not start until it is resolved/paid.

If it shows to be 3 years old. You are good to go.

Thanks danc694u for the information. I got the ticket in California, and I had a California license. I'm now in Kentucky with a Kentucky license. Does that matter? Will California set the date of the violation or Kentucky?

Not sure on that one. What you'll need, is a MVR from CA and KY to be sure.

Did your KY license get suspended?

I'm taking a stab in the dark here because I'm not sure if either state uses date of issue, or date of payment. Someone from those states might have an answer. I would just get the MVR's and check the dates.

My guess would be, you are going to be fine. But having the information from both states, leaves no doubt. And it really doesn't cost that much.

A smell test, how does your auto insurance company treat it??

Yeah, it’s a California ticket, so everything will be set by there laws. Most companies will hire you with one speeding violation. Especially if that is all you have on your record. But, like the other Driver said you must disclose this ticket on the job application. I've seen many people get fired after they were hired for not being truthful. By law these companies have to do a nation wide check, so either way the company will find out. The best way to be is straight and upfront. There are so many companies in desperate need of drivers as where you should not have a problem finding a job.

Thanks dan and ace. I appreciate all of you guys responding to my post. Your information and expertise has been helpful. The ticket was in California and I now have a Kentucky license. I just really want to get out there and get started. I am hopeful that SOME company, any Company (for right now) will take me. I just want to get my foot in the door. After I've gotten some experience under my belt I can make the move to a good company.

Another question I have is this:

Will any companies hire me before going to training? That way I do not quit my job and have a horror story like mountainmama's son did. I will disclose everything, however, I do not want to quit my job without knowing for sure that a company is going to hire me.
