What are they gaining? Still gotta back up, except now you're backing INTO potential traffic instead of a clear spot.

I do it sometimes because I like to sleep with my bunk windows open. Nosing in gets you away from idling trucks, APU’s, and reefers. Also most of the slobs pee and dump their jugs up by their cabs so pulling in also gets you away from the cooked urine smell on the pavement.

Quite often, at the end of the day, my backing is for the birds. In the morning, backing is a piece of cake. That being said, I'm seldom at Loves or PFJ. the spots are on an angle and two for one. The truck in front of me is gone, so I just pull out.

Not to mention they make it much more dangerous for their neighbors who can't see through those trailers when they go to pull out.

It also means that their trailer sticks out further into the aisle than the tractor would have if they had backed in, which increases the chances of getting backed into.

How fast do you pull out of a parking spot that having a trailer on one side of you is dangerous? Lol.

I would’ve much rather had this smooth brain rubbing up on a trailer I don’t own instead of my truck, so this is why I nose in sometimes when it makes sense to.

There was a time when us drivers got out and looked around before moving the truck.

We use to use our 4 ways religiously when needed, and other drivers understood and respected what we were trying to accomplish in our maneuvers.

It’s a different world compared to what it was like nearly 40 years ago. Today these drivers are in a mad rush to get here or there, they can’t wait 20 seconds for a driver to finish a move without trying to go around him or get up so close it makes it difficult for the other driver.

What I see from many drivers this day and time is ridiculous…..

20 seconds? While talking to a friend tonight about this his response hit home. Basically he said what used to take the average driver a minute to do now takes them 10. They can’t back, you watch thier line up and know they are going to have issue so you get tired of waiting on all the incompetence.
I think he has a point last time in a loves it was almost 25 min for 3 trucks to back in to spots and me to get to the pumps. Then watching as all the youngins tied up the pumps instead of pulling forward after fueling.
I guarantee that if I had to use the big stops regularly I would become inpatient as well.

Read my post again and let it sink in.

I was using 20 seconds as a figure of speech referring to how impatient some drivers are.

Your freind is correct, you can tell by the way a truck lines up to a spot if he has some years on him, or he’s a new driver fresh out of driving school.

25 minutes for 3 trucks to get parked…? Maybe you should try getting out of your truck and being their eyes?? I remember being green in the 80’s with my 1973 Kenworth which had no power steering, I appreciated help from another driver.

Today it’s piss and moan while very few actually try to be a helping hand….
